Troy Johnson

Troy is a lifelong New Yorker, born and raised. Growing up between two distinct neighborhoods of NYC (Bensonhurst and Greenwich Village), Troy has a particularly inclusive and accepting world view. He was an avid traveler as a young person and refers to himself as a citizen of the world.  Troy is justice impacted and can think of nothing more meaningful than saving lives from the pain and degradation of incarceration. While on the inside, Troy worked in several law libraries, assisting people daily to navigate the procedures of appeals, post-conviction, and administrative applications. Troy had the privilege of volunteering for Peter Wagner, of the Prison Policy Initiative, doing legal and practical research. His work ultimately became part of data which revealed the practice of prison gerrymandering in New York State, which Mr. Wagner successfully challenged in New York and other states. Troy is a certified legal clerk, and is currently attending the City University of New York (CUNY), working towards completing his degree.
